The present period of global uncertainty has served to connect us with allies with whom we share values and principles. In doing so we have united efforts with the Audiovisual Producers Rights Management Organization of Mexico (EGEDA), with which we are already generating activities in the interest of building ideas for the future of Hispanic-American audiovisual industry.
During this month, WAWA will be present at the Encuentros Platino Industria (Platino Industry Meetings) with two participants. The first one, called Proactive and active women in the face of adversity, which would take place on September 1st with the participation of Roxana Rotundo, Cecilia Gómez de la Torre, María Elena Useche, Vanessa Velásquez, María Muci, Carolina Cordero and Francisca Fuenzalida, under the moderation of Adriana Castillo, by Egeda Mexico. This meeting will explore the development of Extraordinary Women, WAWA asociation’s first production.
The second participation, Women inside the world of audiovisual production, will take place on September 8th and will provide a space for female directors and producers to discuss the challenge of working in this industry for the female gender, reviewing what has and what has not worked.
We spoke with Adriana Castillo, Head of Institutional Relations of Egeda Mexico, about the reasons to consolidate this alliance with WAWA association.
“The reasons to establish an alliance with an association as WAWA comes from the Platino Industria spirit: to create alliances, bonds and business among professionals from film, audiovisual, tourism and education sectors”.
With regard to this alliance objectives, Castillo affirms that the diversity, professionalism, experience and attitude of WAWA’s female associates are features with which they identify to collaborate in a common space, and whose aspirations and goals are to recognize creators’ talents and potentiate business development. “This is an opportunity to create new paths, projects, business and collaborations towards reactivating the sector in a professional way and with a gender perspective”.
Platino Industria arose as a natural response of the meetings held every year at the Premios Platino Xcaret (Platino Xcaret AWARDS). Platino Industria intends to open up business and exchange opportunities for Spanish and Portuguese speaking institutions, producers, directors, distributors, investors, film commissioners and cinema and AV services providers.
