CECILIA GÓMEZ DE LA TORRE
LEADERSHIP AND CREATIVITY WITHOUT BORDERS
Cecilia Gómez de la Torre is the Associate General Manager for Tondero Distribución. She is in charge of the distribution of national and international cinema and international sales for the number one entertainment producer in Peru and she is also the representative of more than 70 movies, series, documentaries, animations and soap operas for well known Latin America directors and producers, adding alliances of coproduction and television programming.
With more than 30 years of experience, she has been recognized in numerous events, award ceremonies and festivals throughout her professional career. Today, one of her main goals is to continue promoting Tondero as an international company.
“Tondero Distribución is becoming a boutique distributor, where we are more and more dedicated to curating the products we represent. We have many projects that have been presented to platforms and possible co-producers that we will introduce shortly in the market.”
As a matter of fact, Cecilia assures us that this has been an important year for the company’s expansion.
“A couple of years ago, we opened Tondero in Spain and we started to co-produce a lot more and become more active from Peru and Spain. At this moment we are also opening the distributor in Spain so we can have the headquarters in Peru as well as in Madrid. This will let us generate new content and become a bridge between different continents where we generate coproductions and represent projects.”
She is one of the most active and creative leaders in our industry and has inspired, motivated and generated life changes, thanks to her humble and professional advice.
“This coming year will be interesting. I believe that 2022 will be a year of greater openness and renovation, where we are open to generate new things, like we did last year when we opened a drive-in theater, when movie theaters were not opened yet, and we partnered with a platform to place products in a transactional way.”
This experience has been very important for her, alongside the production and representation of international projects.
Among her many suggestions and practices, we should highlight the value of friendship, the global support of strategic alliances to achieve common objectives for the industry specially in adverse times and great changes. Based on that concept, she founded WAWA with her partner Liliam Hernández.
“Five years ago, when we founded the organization, we knew we had a great mission ahead of us, and fortunately, the answer from the companies and executives was immediate. The vision in the future and to be able to highlight the role of women as a basic part of it is important for us.”
Cecilia has also become an ambassador for the cinematography and audiovisual activity in Peru, being part of the Peruvian independent group of producers that pushed for the Promotion of Cinematography and Audiovisual Activity Law enacted in 2019 in the National Congress.
Her momentum, her life mission of taking the best Latin America content to the world and vice versa will never expire. Her limit doesn’t have borders.
