In 2005 Laura Buffoni graduated as PHD researcher in Films at the University of Roma Tre. After graduation, Laura started collaborating with Fandango where she held a leading position in documentary and film acquisitions. In the last 10 years she has worked in project development and production for films and TV shows.
She has been a film critic and artistic advisor for festivals, and author of a series of critic essays about the Italian cinema. Her works include the monographic volumes Peter Whitehead – Cinema Musica Rivoluzione (2008), Romanzo popolare (2015) and We want cinema – Sguardi di donne nel cinema Italiano (2018). She is author of the documentary Ferrante Fever (2017), directed by Giacomo Durzi and produced for Rai Cinema and Sky Arte. In 2018, together with Simone Gattoni and Michael Weber, she founded the production company “Similar Films” based in Rome.
